About the Competition

When: The official competition is held in September.
Where: Hosted at Fine Foods (Sydney or Melbourne)

Bake Skills Australia showcases the talents of our younger generation of bakers and pastrycooks. Applications will be screened by the steering committee and finalists will be selected, this process may include a state/regional “bake off”. The finalist event is held live and onsite at the Fine Food Show (Melbourne or Sydney) each year.

Finalists will journey to the show to compete over two days. Accommodation for three nights and airfares are provided where applicable.

There are two categories, Pastrycooks and Bakers. An example of what Pastrycooks will likely need to produce includes puff and choux pastry products, plated desserts, decorated cakes, chocolate entremets, gourmet pies, and specialty pastries. An example of what Bakers will likely need to produce includes sourdough, plaited loaves, danish pastry, baguettes, flat breads, bread models, pretzels, and a gluten free option.
