About the Competition

When: February-March Yearly
Where: Toowoomba, Queensland

The King of Bakers Bread Show (KBBBS) is run by the Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland as part of the Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show. The competition has run for than 150 years and is open to all bakers and pastry cooks. Many industry suppliers support the show including the NBIA.

Major Awards include: The King of the Bakers Championship, Most Successful Cake Exhibitor, Most Successful Bread Exhibitor, Most Successful 1st and 2nd Year Apprentice, Most Successful 3rd and 4th Year Apprentice, Best Specialty Bread, Champion Loaf (Ron Hudson Memorial Trophy), Commercial Bread, Toowoomba Cup (Ron & Helen Stirling Memorial Trophy), and Feature Product of the Show (Cec Willersdorf Memorial Trophy). Regional Awards include: Regional Shield, Regional Bread Award, and the Regional Cake Award.

Exhibits are delivered to the venue on the day prior to judging. Judging takes place over a full day and awards are presented at the presentation dinner that evening.
